Louis van Gaal is still looking for his first Premier League victory as manager of Manchester United following his side's 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Juan
Mata put the visitors ahead against the run of play after 16 minutes
before Jack Rodwell equalised with a bullet header on his home debut on
the half-hour mark.
The
back-three in Van Gaal's 3-5-2 formation was tested throughout by
Sunderland's quick counter-attacking play and United's midfield were
completely over-run by Rodwell, Cattermole and Larsson.
Ashley
Young was booked once again for diving in the second half as he threw
himself theatrically up into the air when challenged by Wes Brown.
Wayne
Rooney and Robin van Persie failed to find their form for United, who
had to settle for a point, although Sunderland felt they could have
won the game themselves.
